I recently completed my Ph.D. in November of 2004. My thesis addressed the application of sociological "Small World" models to the distributed indexing of multimedia data (specifically, images). This highly networked approach to indexing breaks from the typical approach used for performing image archiving and summarization since it embeds index information into the media objects themselves to achieve distributivity. In addition, this Small World Indexing Model mimcs human social networks in the way which index data is stored, accessed and retrieved. A simple web-based Small World Indexing Model demo is available.
My research interests include: Multimedia Indexing, MPEG-7, Multimedia Signal Processing, Similarity Calculation, Relevance Feedback, Edge Detection and Image Analysis and Enhancement.
